River Gacka

River Gacka
In the Gacka valley, a karstic field, flows a river of the same name – one of the largest sinking rivers in the world – leaving everybody breathless with its dark blue-green colour. Gacka’s stream is under strict protection, so for example, boat traffic is forbidden. However, this magnificent river is most famous for trout fishing, especially using a technique called „mušičarenje“ or „fly-fishing“. Brown trout is a special treat for any fishing enthusiast. Consequently, you can find top quality grilled trout in many surrounding restaurants. If you want something more intimate, rent a vacation house and you can go fishing and catch it yourself, or even ask your host to do it for you.
